Job Summary

DramEd is seeking two experienced freelance drama practitioners to lead Shakespeare-themed workshops at a primary school in Southall, London across two days in May. This is a paid freelance opportunity with a planning session included.

Job Description

DramEd is a drama education company delivering creative, accessible and high-quality drama experiences to children across London. We are looking for two confident, experienced practitioners to join us for a two-day Shakespeare workshop residency at a primary school in Southall.
You will each lead age-appropriate, drama-based sessions rooted in Shakespeare texts for children from EYFS through to Year 6. Class teachers will be present and actively supporting throughout.
A paid planning Zoom session will take place before the delivery dates to ensure you feel fully prepared and supported.

Start date: 19th May 2026
Duration: 2 days
Hours: 9am-3pm each day
Location: Southall, London
Pay: £165/day + £20 per hour planning session (1 or 2 hours on zoom)
Contract type: Freelance/Self-employed
DBS required: Yes - enhanced DBS on the update service
PLI required: Yes - public liability insurance essential

Job Requirements

Essential:

- Proven experience delivering drama workshops in primary school settings
- Experience working with Shakespeare texts in an educational or theatre-in-education context
- Confident working independently with large groups of children across different age groups (EYFS-Year 6)
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
- Public Liability Insurance (PLI)
- Punctual, professional and able to represent DramEd warmly and effectively in a school environment

Desirable:

- Experience delivering carousel-style or multi-group workshop formats
- Familiarity with the Andrew Matthews Shakespeare Story series or similar accessible Shakespeare adaptations for children
- Experience working alongside classroom teachers in a co-facilitation model

Job Responsibilities

- Lead engaging, accessible Shakespeare-themed drama workshops for primary age children (EYFS-Year 6)
- Attend and actively contribute to a pre-delivery planning Zoom session
- Liaise professionally with DramEd ahead of the delivery dates
- Represent DramEd's values of warmth, creativity and inclusion in the classroom
