Job Description
HandMade Theatre is a company that creates interactive experiences using devised theatre, music, puppetry, and storytelling to engage communities and intergenerational audiences.
The Butterfly House is a new outdoor show for family audiences, exploring the life cycle of a butterfly through puppets, music, and a little tech twist, to interact with audiences. This show is being created thanks to a commission from Applause Rural Touring and grants for the arts funded by Arts Council England, for summer 2026.
We are looking for one performer/musician, desirables are;
Confident singer who plays a portable instrument
Experience performing in outdoor touring shows
Experience working with older people
Experience working with children
A current enhanced DBS or willingness to go through this process
A current UK driving licence
A passion for interactive outdoor theatre
Audition date: Tuesday, 12th May 11-12 pm in Nottingham (travel expenses will be covered)
Essential Project Dates;
29th May
17th June
19th August
Additional rehearsal and show dates to be confirmed. There will be a guaranteed minimum of 8 days of employment, at a rate of £140 per day. Days are standard 8 hours.
Locations will vary across the UK, with most activity focused in Kent, Berkshire and Nottingham.
We are particularly interested in hearing from artists from underrepresented communities.
