Job Description
We are seeking up to three committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees to play a vital role in shaping the future of a leading arts organisation, and collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to promoting the art of printmaking
Leicester Print Workshop, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, offers high quality printmaking facilities and development opportunities for artists in the East Midlands and beyond. Our outreach activities in local schools and the community aim to increase participation in printmaking among people of all ages. We are seeking trustees to help guide its strategic direction during an important phase of development.
To complement the skills of our existing trustees, we are seeking individuals with significant experience in working with community organisations in the Leicester area, philanthropic fundraising, web site development or human resources management
Previous experience as a trustee would be helpful, but training will be provided for those taking on their first board appointment.
These positions are unremunerated and require a commitment of up to 10 days per year, including 4 board meetings a year, some held in person and some online. Appointments are for three years initially, renewable once.

Job Requirements
Legally able to fulfil the obligations of a trustee i.e. you must not be disqualified as a director or under the Charities Act, and must be a "fit and proper person" for the purposes of the Finance Act 2010
Able to commit up to 10 days per year to prepare, attend and contribute to Leicester Print Workshop quarterly board meetings, the annual general meeting and board committees
Personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Able to exercise sound and independent judgment
Able to listen and engage effectively, acting as a "critical friend" to the staff team.
Experience of:
Board or leadership team membership
Experience in one or more of the following:
philanthropic fundraising,
web site development and IT strategy
human resources management
working with community organisations

Strategy
To work with Board of Trustees and staff to develop corporate strategy
Governance
To ensure that Leicester Print Workshop:
Complies with legal obligations
Acts within its powers and charitable purposes
Has appropriate infrastructure and staff to deliver its charitable purposes and contractual obligations efficiently and effectively
To attend board meetings adequately prepared to contribute to discussions and decision making
Leadership
To ensure that appropriate policies, systems of internal control, accountability and working practices are in place to:
Ensure the financial stability and long-term sustainability
Deliver robust business plans
Monitor performance against annual business plans and targets
Ensure proper investment of funds
Evaluate risks to the organisation and its volunteers and staff, including insuring against all reasonable liabilities
To provide additional advice and guidance on areas of specialist expertise, including mentoring staff

About Leicester Print Workshop
A centre of excellence for fine art printmaking, including lithography, etching, engraving, relief, letterpress and screen printing.
A charity, and ACE National Portfolio Organisation, it has a gallery, shop, framing room and 11 artist studios. It serves around 180 members. Its course programme - open to all - ranges from introductory courses through to year-long higher degree alternatives. Its outreach work enables wider participation in printmaking, engaging community members of all ages.
