Job Purpose
The Front of House and Venue Managers are responsible for all designated front of house areas within Southwark Playhouse venues. This role will predominantly look after Southwark Playhouse Elephant while working closely with the Front of House and Venue Manager for Borough.
Leading the Front of House Team, they will be responsible for the delivery of a first-class audience and visitor experience at Southwark Playhouse. They will work closely with the Sales, Marketing and Communication departments towards delivering excellent service and maximising income. Health and safety is a key part of the role ensuring that all aspects of visitor and staff safety is of paramount importance, keeping abreast of and adhering to theatre policy and wider legislation. The role includes the oversight of all repairs and maintenance issues within the designated front of house areas, as well as a shared responsibly for maintaining building wide systems.
Your usual place of work and responsibilities will be Southwark Playhouse Elephant, with cover for Southwark Playhouse Borough duties as and when required.
Southwark Playhouse does not receive any regular funding or subsidy. The income generated through the Front of House department is vital. This role will ensure that all potential streams of revenue are identified and maximised.

Salary: £38,587.50 per annum.
Job Requirements
Essential
At least one year experience in front of house management in an arts environment.
Confident team leader with proven experience successfully managing staff.
Positive attitude and drive.
Proven experience of leading on customer service delivery.
Ability to create a welcoming environment for a diverse range of building users.
Experience of setting and achieving sales targets.
Proven problem-solving skills.
IT literacy (Office365, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
Hold a personal license.
Desirable
Experience of working Front of House in a theatre.
Experience of working in or managing a kitchen.
Experience of managing budgets.
Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
Have a valid First Aid Certificate (if not Southwark Playhouse will provide training as this is essential for the role).
Security, Fire, Health and safety related training.
Training in food safety management / food hygiene legislation.
