Job Summary

ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company is seeking an experienced Deputy Stage Manager for our upcoming production of Ebony Scrooge. The Deputy Stage Manager takes responsibility for creating and maintaining the prompt copy, cueing performances and assisting the Stage Manager as required.

Job Description

Production: Ebony Scrooge (ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company / Sadler's Wells East production)
Venue: Sadler's Wells East, London
Contract: Fixed term - rehearsal and performance period (26 Oct 2026 - 3 Jan 2027)
Reports to: Company Stage Manager / Producers

Salary: Above Equity/ITC rates

Deadline to apply: Wednesday 20th May, 12pm

Key Responsibilities to include but not limited to;

Responsible for calling the technical cues during rehearsals and performances, assist the Company Stage Manager with scheduling and running the technical rehearsals at Sadler's Wells East.
Assist the Company Stage Manager in scheduling rehearsals and ensuring that the performers know when they are needed.
Ensure the floor of the rehearsal room is marked out to indicate the shape of the stage and all entrances and exits.
Assist the Director during rehearsals, prepare the prompt copy and notate the movements of the performers (the 'blocking') as required.
Attend production meetings, rehearsals, calls and performances as required
Support the creation of show reports in conjunction with the Company Manager.
Teach the book to the ASM/book cover.
Adhere to the health and safety guidelines of the Company.

Person Specification

Essential

Significant experience as a Deputy Stage Manager or senior stage management role in professional theatre
Strong experience calling or overseeing complex, music-led or physically demanding shows
Excellent leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail under pressure
Desirable

Experience in Hip Hop, dance, or physical theatre productions
Experience in large commercial or West End scale environments
