Job Summary

The CGC Associate Conductors' Scheme is aimed at conductors studying on, or considering applying for, studies in choral conducting. The scheme runs seasonally with 1 conductor gaining a place each season. We are now looking to select our next Associate Conductor for October 2026 - June 2027.

Job Description

The Scheme aims to offer new and training choral conductors a rewarding space to develop their skills and receive mentoring from CGC Principal Conductor Tori Longdon, in preparation for advanced formal training. During the scheme, our Associate Conductor will be supported by the wider CGC team to gain a rounded set of experiences within artistic planning, and will receive opportunities
to explore their other interests within the choir.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Attend weekly Thursday rehearsals from October to June
Lead chorus warm ups and conduct a selected repertoire
Attend strategy meetings with the CGC team

PERSON SPECIFICATION
The CGC Associate Conductors' Scheme is aimed at conductors studying on, or considering applying for, studies in choral conducting. As such, some prior conducting experience is required in order to benefit from this scheme.

Salary / Hourly Wage Information
This student position invites the post holder to attend a two hour rehearsal of the Covent Garden Chorus each week during term time (approximately 30-35 weeks over the 26/27 season). The student conductor will observe the principal conductor and also work with the choir for a set period of podium time each week. Each two hour rehearsal is subject to an honorarium of £50.

Job Requirements

To attend weekly Thursday rehearsals from October 2026 - June 2027
To conduct warm-ups and selected repertoire with the chorus
To assist the principal conductor with organisational tasks relating to the preparation of concerts.

Job Responsibilities

This is primarily an observational and educational role, however the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and performing the repertoire they are assigned for each concert, and managing any administrative detail necessary to facilitate these performances.
