Job Description

Art Camp UK is seeking a talented and experienced Resident Artist to deliver high-quality, engaging workshops for children aged 5-11 during our holiday camps in Leeds.

This is a practical, front-facing role where you will lead your own specialist session, repeated twice daily with different groups. You will be responsible for planning and delivering structured, creative workshops that are age-appropriate, inclusive and well-paced.

You will work across two core age groups: Mini Art Camp (ages 5-6) and Junior Art Camp (ages 6-11). Each session should be adapted to suit the ability, energy and needs of the group, ensuring all children feel supported and inspired.

We are looking for artists with a broad creative skillset, including areas such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, clay or mixed media. You should be confident bringing original ideas and projects that engage children and encourage creativity.

You will be working within a fast-paced, energetic environment, alongside a supportive team of artists, managers and support staff. Strong classroom or group management skills are essential, as is the ability to remain calm, organised and professional throughout the day.

Safeguarding is a key part of the role. You will be expected to have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures or be willing to undertake training.

Working hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, This is a holiday-based role.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a confident and creative individual with experience working with children aged 5-11. Teaching or workshop delivery experience in a school, holiday camp or similar setting is essential, along with strong behaviour and group management skills.

A good understanding of safeguarding is required. You should be able to recognise and respond appropriately to any concerns and contribute to maintaining a safe environment. Training can be provided.

You will need a broad creative skillset, such as painting, sculpture, printmaking or clay, and be confident planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate sessions.

We are looking for someone who is energetic, reliable and organised, with the ability to remain calm in a busy environment and work effectively as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, structured outdoor art workshops, Forest School sessions and Art in Nature activities twice daily for children aged 5-11. Adapt sessions to suit different age groups, abilities and energy levels, ensuring all children are included, supported and inspired throughout the day.

Create a positive, safe and well-managed environment using strong behaviour management, clear communication and an energetic, encouraging approach. Maintain awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and follow procedures where required.

Prepare materials, tools and natural resources for each session, ensuring activities are well organised, creative and run smoothly. Bring imaginative ideas and a range of artistic and outdoor approaches to inspire curiosity, exploration and creativity in children.

Work collaboratively with the wider team on site, supporting the overall delivery of the camp and contributing to a fun, active and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.
