Job Description
Newham Council is inviting proposals from marketing and communications specialists to manage the marketing, communications and PR needs for our new cultural hub, Newham Heritage Centre.
With opening planned for early 2027, Newham Heritage Centre will showcase our borough's extraordinary heritage and stories, alongside a dynamic programme of cultural activities for all ages. We want to create a distinct personality for Newham Heritage Centre, that is memorable, engaging and reflective of the space. Marketing and communications is central to achieving this and we are looking to engage a specialist who is passionate about building relationships, working with diverse communities and finding new and creative ways to grow audiences.
This project forms part of Building Newham's Creative Future Newham Council's 15-year cultural strategy and other Council priorities.
This is initially a 12-month contract, with the possibility of an extension up to 2030, and will be subject to six monthly reviews. The value of the contract until 2030 is £76,000, with £16,000 allocated for the first year. Your pricing schedule submission should include the number of days deliverable and a day rate for the four year period.
Job Requirements
Experience of working developing and implementing marketing campaigns. Specific heritage or arts campaigns would be an advantage.
Demonstrable experience of being innovative and creative in their practice.
An awareness of NLHF-funded projects.
A demonstrable track record of successful stakeholder engagement.
Demonstrable experience of managing projects to deliver agreed milestones on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement a marketing and communications plan that will elevate the profile of the centre
Implement and maintain effective PR campaigns that maximise audiences and contribute to the strategic goals of the centre, the Council and the NLHF.
Provide press liaison support as appropriate and ensure a high standard and wide promotional reach is secured.
Manage the centre's social media presence, creating dynamic content and ensuring content is accessible and consistent across platforms.
Work with the Council's Communications Team to co-ordinate internal and external messages.
Oversee all print, digital, video/photography, distribution and communications materials.
Contribute to an audience development plan..
Attend events and activities in the evening and weekends to gather material such as photographs, interviews, etc.
Maintain privacy and GDPR compliant databases of contacts
Ensure effective and efficient reporting to the Council on progress, risks, and lessons learned
