Job Summary

Have experience with filming and editing interviews? We're looking for an individual to film our upcoming oral history interviews, which forms part of our Diverse Voices project.

Job Description

As part of an engagement project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Brass Bands England is embarking on an ambitious oral history/story-gathering project to celebrate those people and events that have made brass banding what it is today - and those that are trailblazing for the future. In this phase of our work, we will be interviewing a select number of people who will be given the opportunity to share their experiences in brass banding. These interviews will not only be part of an exhibition at the home of the BBA (Heritage Quay, Huddersfield), but preserved in the Brass Bands Archive for future generations to hear. Our aim is to collect stories that show how brass banding fits into people's lives.

The scope of this contract is to create a 6-8 minutes 'behind the scenes' film about the project and the oral history interviews that we undertake with members of the brass banding community. The content will be drawn from several events the BBE team are attending in 2026 and by agreement with participating interviewees. Background music will be required in the finished film and library stock is acceptable.

Alongside editing the film, we require a series of we would also expect a number of 'shorts' showcasing the films contents to be created as part of the final output.

The contract value of this role / total budget available is £5,000.
