Job Summary

As part of a wider project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund, Brass Bands England (BBE) are looking for an experienced audio engineer to submit expression of interest.

Job Description

As part of an engagement project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Brass Bands England is embarking on an ambitious oral history/story-gathering project to celebrate those people and events that have made brass banding what it is today - and those that are trailblazing for the future. In this phase of our work, we will be interviewing a select number of people who will be given the opportunity to share their experiences in brass banding. These interviews will not only be part of an exhibition at the home of the BBA (Heritage Quay, Huddersfield), but preserved in the Brass Bands Archive for future generations to hear. Our aim is to collect stories that show how brass banding fits into people's lives.

The scope of this contract is to edit the oral history recordings we collect (maximum of 10 for this phase of the project) for use in:
Social media content
Podcasts
Exhibitions

Editor to advise as to suitable lengths of recordings for each of the above uses.

The selected recordings are to be edited for inclusion in an exhibition which is due to launch in September 2026. It is envisaged that all oral history interviews will have taken place by the end of July 2026 and that editing to be completed by mid-August. Interview recordings will be passed to the editor as soon after completion as possible to enable this timescale to be met.

The contract value of this role is £3,000.
