Park Theatre is a neighbourhood theatre with a global ambition, presenting a wide range of productions, new writing, community projects and commercial partnerships across two performance spaces in Finsbury Park.
We are seeking a Venue Technician to join our technical team and support the safe and effective delivery of productions, hires and events across Park200 and Park90.
The Venue Technician will work across all areas of technical theatre operation, supporting in-house productions, visiting companies and external hires. The role includes assisting with fit-ups, technical rehearsals, show running and get-outs, as well as maintaining theatre systems and equipment across the building.
The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for visiting production teams and venue users, helping to ensure productions are delivered safely, professionally and to a high standard. Duties will include operating lighting, sound and AV equipment, supporting accessible performances, assisting with building maintenance tasks and maintaining good housekeeping throughout technical and backstage areas.
The role also involves supporting the upkeep of specialist theatre equipment, carrying out routine safety and maintenance checks, monitoring consumable stock levels and assisting with contractor supervision where required.
As part of a small and busy team, the Venue Technician will be expected to work flexibly across daytime, evening and weekend shifts, contributing to a positive, collaborative and inclusive working environment.
Job Requirements
Knowledge of technical theatre practice and backstage operations
Experience using ETC lighting desks, Yamaha sound systems, Dante and QLab
Ability to read and interpret lighting, sound and stage plans
Experience supporting fit-ups, technical rehearsals and get-outs
Understanding of theatre health and safety procedures and regulations
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Calm, adaptable and proactive approach to problem-solving
Professional and personable manner when working with visiting companies and venue users
Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
Job Responsibilities
Support the delivery of productions, hires and events across Park200 and Park90
Assist with fit-ups, technical rehearsals, show running and get-outs
Operate lighting, sound and AV equipment as required
Liaise with visiting companies and external production teams
Support the safe use and maintenance of theatre equipment and systems
Carry out routine building maintenance and safety checks
Maintain technical consumables and equipment inventories
Support accessible performances and daytime hires
Act as Duty Technician alongside the Duty Venue Manager when required
Maintain safe, organised and presentable backstage and technical areas
Assist with staff inductions and support training of casual technical staff
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and collaborative working culture
