Job Description
Toucan Theatre Limited are recruiting a self-employed performer/multisensory facilitator for our next national tour of 'The Cheeky Pirate.'

The role requirements involve:
Co-creation in Medway, Swale & London (Flexible Dates 1st-15th June)
Rehearsals in London (w/c 15th June)
Rehearsals in Hereford (w/c 22nd June)
Touring 29th June - 2nd August
Touring 24th August - 23rd October
Get in & Get Outs (1 hour each upto 5/week)
Indoor and Outdoor work (dry weather outdoors)
Direct physical interaction with young people
Schools and community work
Multiple performances per week (sometimes as many as 20 in a week x 40 minutes)
A satisfactory Enhanced DBS
A satisfactory theatre/community referee
Desirable:
Applications from drivers who are confident driving a van.
Applications from people who have Makaton (for work with young people) or BSL experience (for work with our team).
We welcome experience of direct facilitation working with children and young adults who are disabled, particular complex disabilities (sometimes referred to as PMLD (Profound Multiple and Learning Disabilities)).
Our team is visibly and invisibly diverse including people who are deaf, neurodiverse, live with brain injury, LGBT+, Global Majority and class diverse. Reasonable adjustments can always be made to ensure the requirements of the role are met.
We have a company fee of £700/week.
The role assumes a London or Kent base (Herefordshire also considered).
Travel and accommodation for Hereford rehearsals and touring will be paid for by the company (on own room with shared bathroom basis (AirBnB) or private room Travelodge/Premier Inn basis with travel in company van).
Daily £ uplift if driving the van.
Within ITC/Equity maximum working hours.

How to Apply
A 60-minute (approx.) workshop will be held on Thursday 21st May in London to introduce our work to you and you to our work. Invited workshop attendees will be each paid £20 as a contribution to your time with us.
To be considered for the workshop, please send a short video of yourself puppeteering an everyday soft toy / teddy / doll of some description as this character goes on a 1 minute mini adventure. Don’t worry about sound, video, light quality etc. just make your character come to life and surprise us or make us laugh or make us cry (family audience suitable). After the mini adventure say a quick hello and let us know about any experience you have that fits the role description. The total video should be less than 2 minutes. Please don’t spend longer than 15 minutes getting it done – your time is valuable!
