Job Summary
Job Description
Why this matters now
The Exchange has proven its value to the community. Our programmes, spaces and work are well used and well regarded. What is less established is a predictable and sustainable financial model. We are currently reliant on grants and project-based funding. To grow, we need to build stronger, longer-term income streams through both donor support and commercial income, including retail, e-commerce and partnerships.
This next phase requires Trustees who can help us do that.
The roles we are recruiting for:
- Chair Designate
- Treasurer
- Trustees (x3)
- Board Secretary
We welcome applicants from Erith and Bexley, and equally those from further afield who bring relevant experience and an interest in similar communities.
Inclusion
We want our Board to better reflect the communities we serve.
We particularly welcome applications from people who are currently underrepresented in the arts, heritage and governance sectors, including people from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, younger candidates, those from lower-income backgrounds, and people with disabilities.
Time commitment
Attendance at quarterly Board meetings, the Annual General Meeting, and approximately 5-6 hours per month supporting projects and sub-committee activity. We generally meet after hours or over lunch periods as far as feasible.
