Job Summary

Based on the King’s Road in Chelsea, Saatchi Gallery is dedicated to the promotion and showcasing of contemporary art & creative culture. The Head of Communications will be responsible for leading a team to deliver effective campaigns for exhibtiion projects, Gallery activities and our brand.

Job Description

The Head of Communications will conceive and deliver strategies across various media to optimise the positive communications to our audiences for the benefit of the Gallery, featured artists, partners and other stakeholders. Benchmarks of success will include visitor experience and numbers; enhanced Saatchi Gallery brand perception; sponsor feedback; and, media coverage. Overall, the goal is to deliver an effective communications strategy supportive of the vision for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

Campaign Management
Executing strategies for major exhibition projects.
Maintain strategy blueprints for different kinds of projects
Execute all campaigns on budget to optimise results.

Brand & Reputation Management
Develop and implement the overall communication strategy for Saatchi Gallery as a key part of the Gallery brand, and ensure specialist and mass media coverage of the Gallery increases the understanding of Saatchi Gallery as a charitable institution and the relevance and impact of its programming & initiatives.

Media Strategies
Oversee the development of Press relationships with journalists, influencers and other third-party media entities.
Manage the Gallery's social media output.
Manage regular e-newsletters for our Member and main database networks.
Oversee the effectiveness of all functional and marketing messaging at the Gallery.

Resource Management
Manage the communications team to ensure that team members are positively motivated and focused on the accomplishment of departmental goals.
Manage the budget for the department.
Develop audience insight data and reporting to be a critical tool.

Ambassadorial Duties
Maintain effective relationships partners in the UK and internationally.
Act as spokesperson for the Gallery if required.

Job Requirements

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, typically working Monday to Friday. There is a requirement for flexibility over working hours since attendance at some early morning and evening events is required. The role is office-based at the Gallery.

The salary band for the role is £50-60k per annum. The actual salary offered will depend upon the experience and potential of the successful candidate.

Additionally, the role will include involvement in the process of deciding future exhibition programming at the Gallery.

There is also a requirement for the holder of the role to be flexible enough to undertake any other reasonable duties required by the Director or trustees of the Gallery.
