Job Description
We're seeking a Trustee with financial expertise to join our dedicated Board. We are particularly interested in finding someone who can provide strong financial oversight, helping us to ensure robust financial controls, clear and accurate reporting and effective financial planning across the organisation. You may have experience in finance, accounting, auditing or financial management - and if so, we'd like to hear from you. If you have pre-existing experience in charity accounting, this would be a bonus.
If this isn't you, but your interest has been stirred, drop us a line anyway. We're always interested to meet new people, and it could be that your set of skills and experiences are perfect for us, and we just haven't realised. We're big on learning and working with fabulous people, so tell us what you can bring.
Commitment: we hold quarterly board meetings (both in person and remote) and an AGM happens in November. Occasional support for the Director as needed.
Job Requirements
Attend four Board meetings per year of on average 2 hours.
Attend annual AGM
Assist with preparation/scrutiny of Year End Accounts
Adequately prepare for each Board meeting by reading the provided papers in advance of each meeting and if unable to attend a meeting to provide feedback on papers directly to the
Director or Chair.
Attend CAS events & Exhibitions to experience the work.
Support the CAS team ad hoc on issues or matters that arise that particularly speak to the expertise of each individual Board member.
The Board of Trustees ensures that we have adequate resources to advance our mission to use art to provide joy and reflection, hold space for authentic conversations, connect individuals to their sense of agency, grow communities and empower everyone to imagine and create a healthier and more equitable society.
Job Responsibilities
1. Overseeing effective organisational planning and use of resource
- Oversee the delivery of our strategic plan.
2. Financial oversight
- Approve the annual budget and oversee the ongoing management of company resources throughout the year.
- Adhere to Charity Commission governance guidance.
3. Advocacy and Championing
- Represent CAS and its values to the wider community.
- Attend CAS events as requested to represent CAS and develop our network/awareness of our mission and work.
4. Accountability to funders
- Monitor progress against agreed plans for each ACE Investment Principle & agreed KPI's in the Activity Plan. Hold CAS team accountable for achieving the goals set out against each Principle throughout the funding period.
- Monitor any funding requirements of major gifts, holding CAS Team accountable for achieving goals set out in those applications.
