Job Summary

Looking for up to 6 dancers to take part in a 2-week international contemporary dance residency in Madeira, Portugal, from 8–22 November 2026. This residency will mark the launch of NOMADIS Dance Company.

Job Description

This residency will mark the launch of NOMADIS Dance Company and will include creation, rehearsals, movement research, repertoire work and a live performance opportunity on 20 November 2026. This is an expenses-paid choreographic and performance residency.

We are looking for dancers with strong contemporary dance technique who are comfortable working in an intensive, short-term creative process. Experience with partner work/lifts is welcome, and proficiency in English is required. This opportunity is open to applicants of all nationalities.

Job Requirements

Dancers with strong contemporary dance technique
Ability to quickly memorise and retain new choreography
Comfortable working in an intensive, short-term creation environment
Experience with partner work and lifts
Proficiency in English
This opportunity is open to dancers at any career stage. Previous professional experience is not required, but previous teaching experience is favorable.

Job Responsibilities

-Participation in professional-level contemporary dance performance
-Full commitment and availability for the duration of the residency, including all scheduled rehearsals
-Active participation all company commitments and NOMADIS Retreats events
-Willingness to support the promotion of the project through personal and professional networks where possible
-Consent to photo and video documentation for promotional, archival, and future funding purposes
- Travel arrangements to be made by participants.
