Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable freelance coordinator to support a small team of fieldworkers and volunteers undertaking evaluation and surveys at Freedom Festival 2026.
The evaluation of Freedom Festival 2026 will encompass surveys carried out on tablets by 6 fieldworkers and 5 evaluation boards run by FF volunteers (the evaluation boards are designed for
attendees to quickly feedback on 5 key questions, by sticking a sticker in the relevant answer).
The Fieldworker Coordinator will oversee and support the team of freelance fieldworkers and evaluation volunteers during the festival. This role is key to ensuring surveys are delivered effectively, evaluation boards (run by volunteers) are being fully utilised, targets are met, and staff feel confident and supported throughout.
The Fieldwork Coordinator will be the main point of contact between Freedom Festival staff and fieldworkers, helping to manage logistics, troubleshooting, and team communication across festival sites.
This is a public-facing role suited to individuals who are confident, approachable, and comfortable engaging with a wide range of people in a lively festival environment. We are particularly keen to hear from those who have experience in the cultural sector
in Hull.

Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Experience supervising teams in events, research, or customer-facing environments
Confident problem-solver, able to make quick decisions in a fast paced setting
Comfortable working outdoors and moving between multiple locations
Reliable, proactive, and highly organised
Previous experience in market research, events or customer-facing roles is desirable but not essential.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support a team of fieldworkers across multiple festival locations
Brief fieldworkers on daily plans, locations, and targets
Allocate shifts/areas and adjust deployment as needed throughout the day
Monitor progress against survey targets and maintain motivation within the team
Provide on-the-ground support, troubleshooting issues as they arise (e.g. tech, access, engagement challenges)
Ensure fieldworkers are following agreed processes, including data collection and consent protocols
Act as the main communication link between Freedom Festival staff and fieldworkers during live delivery
Check data quality periodically and flag any issues
Ensure all staff are present, punctual, and taking appropriate breaks
