Job Description
As our Project Leader, you will plan and lead our workshops held at the Norwich Quaker Meeting Rooms and visits e.g. to the Norfolk Records Office, Norwich (Norfolk) Museum helping to create a safe and friendly environment, supporting our members to access the activities, and giving positive encouragement. You will plan accessible, differentiated activities with clear shared aims and objectives, modelling and encouraging people's confidence to grow and building knowledge and understanding of research and historical enquiry skills. You will work with Project partners, organising trips and external workshops, training of staff, volunteers and participants. You will oversee the management of the project, ensuring that the timetable and aims and objectives are achieved, working with the Treasurer to oversee the budget and evaluation process. We will be working towards creating a learning resource toolkit including materials, research, short audio and films. You will also direct and produce a short theatrical piece and oversee the creation of both a short film about Edith Cavell and a Remembrance tree display working alongside the Film Artist and Assistant Workshop Facilitator.
This project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Alfie James Productions.
Job Requirements
Essential
We are seeking a strategic leader with at least three years' experience of working as a Project Leader in the community setting. You will:
-Be passionate about delivering community heritage and theatre projects.
-An excellent workshop planner with a clear understanding of differentiation and accessibility.
- Have background knowledge of the First World War.
-A proven track record as a director of small-scale theatre productions.
-A proven track record of engaging with audiences in local communities.
-Experience of working with vulnerable adults.
-An outstanding communicator and organiser.
Desirable:
- A strong grasp of audience development, diverse theatre practices and governance.
Job Responsibilities
The Project Leader will work closely with our Trustees and funders including the National Heritage Lottery to create and deliver a high quality, rich-learning and engaging community project based on bringing to life the role of the nurses and ambulance drivers during the First World War. You will:
-Plan effective weekly workshops with the Assistant Workshop Facilitator.
-Liaise with local museums and the Norfolk Records Office organising visits and workshops.
-Oversee the creation of our free educational resources.
-Work with the Film Artist to create a short film about Edith Cavell.
-Develop and direct a small theatre play to be performed to the local community.
-Oversee the project evaluation.
-Create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for everyone to learn.
