Job Description
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with knowledge, experience or interest in one or more of the following:
Charity management and governance (preferably including financial literacy)
Hands-on involvement in the arts as a practising artist or performer
Film-making industry
Heritage building maintenance, including project management
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of a popular and treasured community cinema and arts centre based in Clevedon and serving North Somerset and beyond.
We recognise that people from the global majority are not represented on our Board. We actively encourage applications from people from all groups who are regularly under-represented in charity governance.
We also encourage applications from all age groups, subject only to a legal minimum age of 18 years, which is a requirement for being a company director.
This is a rolling application with no fixed end date. We reserve the right to close this advert if we receive sufficient applications.
Job Requirements
The Board meets approximately six times each year. Meetings are usually held in the early evening at the Curzon and take place face to face.
Trustees are also expected to attend the annual Board Away Day and the Annual General Meeting of the company.
Trustees may be invited to participate in sub-committees or working groups where their skills, experience or interests are relevant to specific areas of the Curzon's work.
From time to time, this may involve additional meetings with fellow Trustees and staff members to support particular projects or strategic priorities.
Job Responsibilities
Making sure that the Curzon carries out its charitable purposes for the public benefit.
Ensuring that the Curzon complies with its governing document and all relevant laws and regulations.
Acting at all times in the best interests of the Curzon.
Managing the Curzon's finances and resources responsibly.
Exercising reasonable care and skill in carrying out trustee duties.
Ensuring that the Curzon remains accountable to its stakeholders and the public.
In addition, we expect our trustees to:
Act as advocates for Curzon Cinema and Arts, representing the organisation positively in public.
Be available, where appropriate and as their skills allow, to provide discussion, advice and support to management staff.
