Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint up to three new Trustees to support the development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives, particularly in areas of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Job Description

Culture Coventry Trust is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and help shape the future of a leading cultural organisation in Coventry. The Trust manages key heritage venues and delivers a wide programme of exhibitions, events and community engagement across the city.
As a Trustee, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring the organisation is well governed, financially sustainable, and delivering its charitable objectives. You will contribute to Board discussions, support decision-making, and help set the long-term vision and direction of the Trust, while ensuring compliance with charity law and acting in the organisation's best interests.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience or a strong interest in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), who can help ensure the Trust reflects and serves Coventry's diverse communities. You will champion inclusive practices, bring diverse perspectives to Board discussions, and support the organisation in embedding EDI across its strategy and activities.
Key responsibilities include overseeing governance and compliance with charity law, contributing to strategic planning, and ensuring that resources are used effectively to maximise public benefit. Trustees are also expected to act as ambassadors for the organisation, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, partners and funders at local, regional and national levels.
Experience in areas such as business, fundraising, digital, or commercial activity are also desirable.

Prior Board experience is not required. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who bring diverse perspectives and lived experience.

This is an unpaid, voluntary role requiring attendance at quarterly Board meetings and preparation time. It offers a rewarding opportunity to influence the cultural landscape of Coventry and support meaningful impact across communities.

Job Requirements

While day-to-day and operational management is delegated to the Chief Executive and Senior Executive Directorate, the Board is ultimately responsible for the overarching Trust strategy, governance, finances and overall direction.

All Trustee roles are voluntary and unpaid. The Board holds approximately four meetings per year which are 2 hours long. Trustees may also be asked to take part in special interest committees as a representative for 1.5hrs a quarter. All meetings require a level of preparation and review of papers and performance data.

Current Board Members:
Manny Coulon (Chair)
Joe Elliot
Roger Medwell
Keith Railton

Dr Nor Aziz

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the performance, achievement, and overall direction of the Trust.

You must not act as a Trustee if you are disqualified under the Charities Act.
