Job Summary
Job Description
Collections Management
Support care and management of the Museum's collections and archive.
Undertake environmental monitoring and record findings.
Monitor pest traps and support preventative conservation activity.
Maintain accurate collections documentation.
Support object movement, handling and location control in accordance with Spectrum standards.
Assist with temporary exhibitions and displays.
Support collections audits and inventory projects.

Heritage Asset Stewardship
Assist with monitoring the condition of the Museum's historic buildings and heritage assets.
Identify and report maintenance issues affecting collections or historic fabric.
Maintain records relating to heritage maintenance and conservation activity.
Work with colleagues to support preservation of the Museum's historic environment.
Contribute to the development of conservation and maintenance priorities.

Public Access & Engagement
Facilitate public access to collections and archives.
Support researchers, students and academic enquiries.
Deliver archive visits, tours, talks and interpretation activities.
Develop content for blogs, newsletters, social media and website updates.
Promote research outputs and collections-based stories.
Support public engagement with the Museum's collections and heritage.

Volunteers
Support and supervise collections, research and tour guide volunteers.
Assist with recruitment, induction and training of volunteers.
Help create a positive and rewarding volunteer experience.
Work closely with the Learning & Engagement Producer on volunteer development.

Duty Management & Museum Operations
Act as Duty Manager during designated shifts.
Support front-of-house operations when required.
Provide cover for visitor services during volunteer short
Job Requirements
Skills and Experience
Experience working in a museum, heritage, cultural, educational or public-facing environment.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience of maintaining accurate records and administrative systems.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems.
Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, collections care, heritage assets and museum standards.
Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, researchers or external partners.
Desirable
Experience working with museum collections, archives or historic buildings.
Experience of volunteer coordination, public engagement, research projects or interpretation.
