Job Summary

Deliver high-quality technical support and workshop setup for tutors and students at Trinity Buoy Wharf. Assist the Senior Technician and Programme Manager with ordering materials, health and safety administration, and technical operation of education delivery across the site.

Job Description

The King's Foundation is a charity founded by King Charles III and was first formed in 1990. Inspired by the vision and values of His Majesty, the Foundation focuses on creating better communities where people, places and the planet can coexist in harmony.

The charity offers education courses for over 15,000 students annually, health and wellbeing programmes for nearly 2,000 people every year, and spearheads placemaking and regeneration projects in the UK and overseas to revitalise communities and historic buildings.

The King's Foundation is headquartered at its flagship regeneration project, Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, and acts as custodian of other historic Royal sites including the Castle of Mey in Caithness, Scotland, and Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire, which are open to visitors. The Foundation also carries out its work at educational and cultural hubs in London, based at The King's Foundation School for Traditional Arts in Shoreditch, Trinity Buoy Wharf on the River Thames and the Garrison Chapel in Chelsea.

The post will be based at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, E14 0FG with the requirement to travel on occasion.
Your working hours will be 24 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Contract: 2-year Fixed-Term.
Salary: £19,513.50
You must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Job Requirements

The essential skills, knowledge and experience required are:
Understand operational needs of a busy teaching studio and related health and safety requirements.
Experience of a wide range of fine art practices and materials
Carpentry and DIY skills
Be proficient with standard PC or Mac software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and audio-visual systems.
Communicate effectively with self-employed tutors and students (aged 18-20).
Enthusiasm, willingness, and flexibility to engage in a range of tasks
Ability to maintain a professional and approachable attitude, even under heavy workloads, and to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated pro-activity in resolving issues
Maintaining your personal artistic practice
Experience with one or all of the following disciplines: analogue photography processes and darkroom printing, textiles and sewing machines, ceramics.

This role involves significant manual handling.

Job Responsibilities

Specific Duties will include:
Undertake Health and Safety checks under the Senior Technician's guidance at set intervals to ensure student and staff safety at all times.
Work collaboratively with other part-time technicians to develop and maintain an effective, practical approach.
Provide technical advice and guidance to students in their artistic practice and learning as appropriate.
Maintain a high level of awareness of students' work and needs and, as a key member of staff, work with colleagues and self-employed tutors to ensure that the course provides the greatest support and benefit to students that can be achieved.
Support the Senior Technician in fostering a positive studio culture among students as part of their artistic training, ensuring the studio is kept in good order.
Ensure studios have sufficient materials and equipment for student use. Set up studios for classes as required. Leave studios clean with all materials stored when not in use.
