The Artistic Engagement and Production Manager will lead the planning and delivery of Arts and dance projects, engagement programmes and productions.

Job Description

The postholder will lead the planning and delivery of dance productions, community programmes and indoor and outdoor arts festivals, including Diwali Light It Up!. They will ensure all activity is delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard, balancing artistic quality with strong operational management.

The role involves coordinating bookings across multiple venues and sites, overseeing rehearsals, workshops and performances, and managing on-site delivery for events, festivals and tours. The postholder will work closely with artists, partners and venues to ensure activity runs smoothly from early planning through to completion.

A key responsibility will be ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, organisational policies and sector good practice. This includes developing and implementing risk assessments, health and safety procedures, and environmental and quality standards. The postholder will take responsibility for helping to maintain safe, well-managed environments for audiences, performers, staff and volunteers.

The role also requires effective stakeholder and partnership management. The postholder will liaise with artists, venues, councils, partners, suppliers and community groups, building positive relationships that support high-quality delivery and wider community engagement. They will represent the organisation professionally at meetings and across external networks where required.

The postholder will support audience development by helping to grow and diversify audiences, contribute to inclusive practice and assist with engagement tracking and reporting. They will also contribute to monitoring, evaluation and general administration, including project documentation, correspondence and meeting support.

This is a practical, hands-on role within a small team and includes supporting physical set-up and de-rig, including staging where required.

Job Requirements

- Proven experience in arts or dance production management across indoor and outdoor settings.
- Experience delivering mid-scale and large events, with strong knowledge of logistics, scheduling and on-site operations.
- Experience in risk assessments, health and safety, and compliance.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and community-focused practice.
- Open-minded and proactive approach.
- Desirable: experience in South Asian arts, Arts Council reporting, audience development, and a clean driving licence.
- Hybrid role with one day per week in Basingstoke and flexibility for evenings/weekends.
