Job Summary
Job Description
2028 will be the seventh Folkestone Triennial, taking place 20 years after the first edition, and the previous six have established a reputation for Folkestone as an art town that welcomes contemporary artists into its everyday life. The Triennial is just one part of the work of the creative placemaking charity, Creative Folkestone, and 2028 will be its 25th anniversary. The charity has spent those twenty five years transforming the town, its cultural life, economy and reputation. 2028 marks the end of the first generation of its work and the start of the second.
Creative Folkestone is looking to appoint a curator with their own vision for the Triennial which builds on past exhibitions, continues the transformation of Folkestone and so further enhances the Triennial and Folkestone's reputation. For the 2028 edition we will build on the work of the first generation of artists and curators, to showcase the very best international artists of the future.
The Creative Folkestone team is experienced at delivering Triennials. The Head of Curatorial will work together with the curator to deliver their vision. The freelance curator will need to have a flexible approach to work over the run up and delivery of the Triennial. It is expected to take on average 1.5 days a week.
In an application, Creative Folkestone is looking forward to seeing an exciting approach to the 2028 exhibition that must have a diversity of artists and attracts in excess of 250,000 people from the widest of backgrounds.
