Job Description

Post: Trainee Production Assistant
Contract: Full time
Hours of work: 5 days a week, (9am-5pm)
Reporting to: Studio Director
Location: Suffolk with occasional travel
Salary: Starting from £24,000 per annum
Start Date 20th August 2026
Holidays: 20 days paid holiday + bank holidays
Probation period: 4 months

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Working directly with the Studio Director, and wider studio team, in the day to day running of the studio;
Assisting in the production of artworks, with particular emphasis on researching and developing new
animatronic works under the guidance of the Studio Director;
Daily testing and monitoring of new and existing animatronic artworks;
Packing, handling, installing and condition checking artworks;
Recording all stages of production and producing installation and maintenance documents based on your knowledge of the works, using existing studio templates;
First point of contact for visitors, deliveries and collection of artworks;
Working with the Studio Director, to identify new areas to develop the role.

Essential Skills / Experience:

A BA degree or equivalent.
Good communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good ability to manage your own time, prioritising and efficiently managing your varied work load.
Practical knowledge of making artwork: being comfortable and confident working in a variety of materials, using a variety of tools and machinery, as well as eager to learn new skills and adapt to new ways of working.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Adobe Suite, Pages, Numbers and Mail.

Desirable:

Art handling skills: being able to safely and confidently hang, handle, pack and unpack artwork.
Experience working in an artist's studio or within a contemporary arts organisation.
Project managing.
Creative Suite.
FileMaker Pro.
Rhino, Sketchup or similar.
3D printing.
