Production Details:
Christopher Boone is gifted with a brilliant mind for numbers, but unsettled by the unpredictability of people and everyday life. When a neighbour's dog is discovered killed, he finds himself under suspicion. Determined to prove his innocence, Christopher becomes both detective and suspect, drawn into a mystery that grows darker and more complex with every clue he uncovers. What begins as the search for a culprit soon reveals secrets closer to home, forcing him to confront truths that will test his courage, his family, and his understanding of trust, independence, and the wider world.

Inventive, gripping, and moving, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time combines the intrigue of a whodunnit with a powerful coming-of-age story in an unforgettable theatrical event.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will open at Birmingham Rep in September 2026 before embarking on a major UK tour. The play, adapted by Simon Stephens from Mark Haddon's best-selling novel, will be directed by Ned Bennett and co-produced by Melting Pot and the Birmingham Rep.

There will be a break for five weeks over the Christmas period.

The Role
The Head of Wardrobe is responsible for the planning, supervision and maintenance of all costuming and the smooth running of the wardrobe department, and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a smooth running of the show. Local laundry support will be provided where necessary. Experience working on a similar scale production is required.

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for all aspects of the planning, supervision and maintenance of all costumes in each venue to the standard required by the Designer and Costume Supervisor.
2. To prepare and update a costume bible with the Costume Supervisor.
3. To supervise other members of the department.
4. To ensure all costumes are cleaned appropriately and in working order for each performance, including coordinating dry cleaning.
5. To devise all dressing show plots for the production and teach local dressers as required.
6. To liaise with artistic management regarding cast changes and prepare costume changes accordingly.
7. To buy replacement costumes as required and to fit and alter costumes as needed during the run of the production including Understudies.
8. To ensure all wardrobe equipment is fit for purpose and the wardrobe room is in working order.
9. To co-ordinate and supervise the get-out of wardrobe equipment at each venue, and to prepare equipment ready for
