Job Summary

Melting Pot Productions are looking for a Sound No2, for the UK Tour of Paranormal Activity, opening at Richmond Theatre the w/c 31st August 2026, followed by a UK Tour.

Job Description

The Sound No2 reports directly to and works alongside the Head of Sound and is responsible for all sound equipment, including maintenance for the production as directed by their HOD. The Sound No2 will run the backstage sound plot during the show and provide mixing desk cover for the Head of Sound where appropriate.

Schedule:
Rehearsals (London) from w/c Monday 3rd August 2026
Fit-up from w/c Monday 31st August 2026
Technical rehearsals from Wednesday 2nd September 2026
First preview - Monday 7th September 2026
End of contract - end of June 2027

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. To be actively involved in the running of the sound department and assisting the Sound Number 1.
2. To take responsibility for the radio mics during performances, including testing, fittings and show checks.
3. To assist with sound checks and ensure the smooth running of the show.
4. To attend technical and dress rehearsals to ensure awareness of the Sound requirements, and any resulting changes.
5. To create and encourage a supportive and positive backstage environment for the cast and crew.
6. To be an active member of the team, working to support and assist staff in all other departments and providing support and assistance as needed.
7. To represent the company with diplomacy, discretion and courtesy at all times, safeguarding all confidential information.
8. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the show.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification:
Proven experience as a Sound No 2 working on a similar scale production is required.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Someone with the ability to work well on their own and as part of a team.
The ability to remain calm under pressure, with a flexible and proactive attitude and an understanding of what is required to maintain a consistent high production standard.
A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
A full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
