Job Summary

Thompson's Gallery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Gallery Associate to join our team at our Aldeburgh Gallery in Suffolk. 3 days a week which includes at least 2 Saturday's a month.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with at least two years' experience working within a commercial gallery who is looking to play an active role in a busy, client-focused environment. The successful candidate will work closely with our gallery team, supporting sales, exhibitions, artist relationships, and the day-to-day running of the gallery.
This varied role requires excellent organisational skills, a professional approach to client service, and a genuine passion for contemporary and modern art.

Job Requirements

A minimum of two years' experience working in a commercial art gallery.
A strong knowledge of the contemporary and modern art market.
Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Confident working independently and as part of a small team.
Experience coordinating artwork sales and logistics.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience updating websites and social media.
A proactive, flexible approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence desirable.

Job Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day running of the Aldeburgh Gallery, ensuring the highest standards of presentation and customer service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, collectors, artists, and suppliers.
Assist with artwork sales, including preparing invoices, sales documentation, shipping arrangements, and client follow-up.
Manage client enquiries in person, by telephone, and via email.
Coordinate artwork logistics, framing, transport, and installations.
Assist with the planning, installation, and de-installation of exhibitions.
Maintain accurate artwork inventory, stock records, and client databases.
Support artist liaison and exhibition planning.
Assist with the production of catalogues, marketing materials, newsletters, and press releases.
Update the gallery website and social media platforms.
Support gallery events, private views, and art fairs, with occasional evening or weekend work.
