Job Summary

Curatorial support and project production. To contribute to our Ampersand Foundation Award projects, the research and development of commissioned works for the Lake District. Towards a major survey show and publication on the lost history of rural culture.

Job Description

The research/exhibition has a strong focus on women protagonists and LGBTQ+ communities (in particular in the Lake District and Germany), leading to a publication and exhibition that explores the conjoined history from the Romantic movement through the Arts & Crafts to 'useful art' and integrated practice.
The role will be varied, with both desk research and project production aspects, and exciting supported opportunities for national and international travel.
More detailed project information can be found on www.grizedale.org/opportunities

This is a role for a confident and highly-motivated individual, with good problem-solving and people skills, as well as a respect for and interest in the ethos and achievements of Grizedale Arts. Applicants should be able to evidence research outcomes / knowledge of and interest in European rural contexts, cultural histories and contemporary art practice. Proven exhibition / public art commission delivery experience would be an advantage, as is a hands-on practice in art, making or craft. Good organisational skills are important, as is excellent written and verbal English language communication.
