Job Summary
Job Description
The Director will lead a small professional team as well as a wide network of volunteers and stakeholders. They will report to a newly established Board of Trustees and both the Director and Board are supported by two Advisory Councils (UK and International) and several active and established committees representing the different areas of Theatre Green Book activity.
Currently the core team consists of an Interim Director, Producer and International Associate (all part time and freelance) with support from 3 consultants in the areas of Marketing, IT and Finance / Governance. It is envisaged that the team will further expand in time, to match growth and delivery objectives in the next two years.
In November 2025, Theatre Green Book held a major International Conference co-hosted with the National Theatre in London, attended by over 500 delegates from all over the world.
The Director will be responsible both for Theatre Green Book in the UK, and for the global network that unites independent Theatre Green Book licensees and partners across the world.
They will make a major contribution to the future of the company, helping to build and expand strategic, collaborative networks, advocate in the sector for Theatre Green Book and sustainable working and continue to develop sector-leading guidance and standards.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable forging partnerships and strategic connections at all levels and who has the ability to motivate colleagues and collaborators. The role offers opportunities for public speaking, global engagement and significant professional development alongside strategic planning and hands on delivery of our core UK programme.

- Significant and relevant leadership experience with a wide professional network in theatre and the arts and an understanding of current challenges for the sector.
- Ability to form and sustain strong partnerships and strategic connections.
- Experience of charity fundraising / income generation and business planning.
- An understanding of budget management and financial processes.
- Credibility and expertise in the sector, including a track record in environmental sustainability.
- A collaborative, diplomatic and proactive approach to partnership working and network management
- A skilled people manager with strong leadership and inter-personal skills.
- A proven commitment to diversity, inclusion and representation.
