Job Description

We are looking to expand our Board and to welcome new Trustees to work closely with the organisation as we continue to deliver high quality cultural experiences to our audiences. At this exciting and ever-changing moment in the history of the organisation, we are looking for dynamic individuals who are keen to get involved in seeing in the changes whilst maintaining a sound and stable organisation. We are particularly keen to find expertise and experience of safeguarding, education, literature and children's literacy.

We are having our next Board Meeting online at 10am on Monday 14th of September, new Board Members will be invited to observe this meeting before being formally voted in.

Job Requirements

To ensure effective governance and support for the CEO and team, we seek to balance
the range of skills and experiences amongst the Trustees to match the needs of the
organisation and the communities we work within.
The Board of Trustees are vital to the smooth running of the company. We have a
minimum of 3 board members at any given time. Board membership is confirmed at
the annual general meeting.
Our Trustees advise us, hold us to account, and champion our work in Exeter and
beyond. Our current Trustees have expertise in the arts, in finance, the public sector
and health & safety.
Some are Exeter-based and others are further afield. We do not want geography to be a
barrier; we meet online and in-person.
We do not expect all Trustees to be experienced in all areas of governance, however
collectively we ask the board to be responsible for the following:

Job Responsibilities

COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensuring that Alibi meets legal and reporting requirements
Ensuring that Alibi is open and accountable to stakeholders
A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Alibi
Supporting the Alibi team to deliver against its strategic plan
Introducing and sharing contacts, ideas and networks to further Alibi's mission
Drawing on specialist skills and experience to support Alibi's Executive and
Senior Management Team with specific expertise
An ability to work effectively as a member of a Board and to take decisions for
the overall good of Alibi
Act as an ambassador for Alibi locally and nationally
YOUR INDIVIDUAL COMMITMENT
Contribute your expertise to advise and support members of staff on an ongoing
basis, working closely with the Chief Executive, and other staff as appropriate.
Attendance at Quarterly Board Meetings - these meetings last approximately
two hours. We alternate between online and in person meetings.
