Job Summary
Job Description
We're looking for Non-Executive Directors/Trustees to help drive the long-term sustainability of the Citizens Theatre by strengthening its earned and contributed income, alongside providing strong governance and strategic oversight, and ensuring it delivers its artistic mission and public value.
The Citizens Theatre is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. We are governed by our Board, who serve as Directors of the Company and Trustees of the Charity. The Board delegates management of the of the company to its joint CEOs, Artistic Director Dominic Hill and Executive Director Kate Denby. They are supported by the Senior Management Team, who are responsible for operational decision-making across different areas of the organisation. The Board have overall responsibility for the governance of the company. They oversee the strategic direction of the company, ratify all major policy decisions, approve allocation of resource, monitor the financial management, and safeguard its reputation and values.
Board members are appointed for a period of four years, which can be renewed for a second term of four years. Appointments are ratified by Members of the Citizens Theatre Company at the Annual General Meeting. The Board elects the Chair and Vice Chair.
The Citizens Theatre Board meet four times a year in March, June, September and December. We also typically host an away day once or twice a year to look at areas of the business in depth.
