We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual who is passionate about the power of art and creativity to inspire, transform, and unite communities.
As Duty Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the Hub, leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high-quality visitor experience and exceptional customer service.
This role manages the day-to-day operational functions of the Hub; including the Caf Bar, retail shop, and front-of-house teams with specialist responsibility for overseeing building health, safety, and contract maintenance. As part of the management team, you will
contribute to the strategic development of the venue as a vital local creative hub and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).

This role demands the following blend of knowledge, skills, experience and behaviour (all are essential, unless shown otherwise, and will be assessed by Application Form and / or Interview / Assessment)
Skills & Knowledge
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for diverse audiences.
Safety & Hygiene: Knowledge of building ops, H&S, risk, and food regulations.
Problem Solving: Creative troubleshooting in fast-paced environments.
Qualifications: First Aid at Work (Essential); IOSH/NEBOSH (Desirable).
Experience
Venue Management: Managing busy public/arts venues.
Team Leadership: Managing, mentoring, and scheduling staff/volunteers.
Finance & Commercial: Budget monitoring and driving sales. Caf /bar/retail supervision is Desirable.
Job Responsibilities
Operations & Visitor Experience
Shift Leadership: Lead 7-day rota operations, including building opening, setup, and secure lockdown.
Visitor Experience: Maintain top-tier service and cleanliness across the CafeBar, shop, and galleries.
Health & Safety Compliance
Compliance Lead: Manage statutory H&S, fire safety, risk logs, and Arts Council environmental reporting.
Incident Response: Administer First Aid and coordinate emergency building evacuations.
CafeBar & Retail Management
Commercial Growth: Oversee caf /shop ops, inventory, and promos to maximize profit and cut waste.
Hygiene Standards: Enforce strict food safety legislation, cleanliness, and dietary compliance.
Team Leadership
People Management: Supervise FOH/caf staff; handle onboarding, rotas, and performance reviews.
Strategic Alignment: Mentor teams to deliver business plans meeting local authority and funder goals.
