To cope with growing demand and our increasingly global perspective, the Royal College of Music is seeking to engage a piano tuner to look after our extensive stock of upright pianos over various sites on the RCM campus.
You should hold a recognised qualification in piano tuning and maintenance.
You will be required to tune to a high standard to support both teaching and student practice.
You should understand the particular demands of the music profession whilst striving to help each student and professor reach the fullness of their own potential.

Job Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Piano Tuning and Maintenance.
- The ability to tune aurally.
- Professional experience of tuning beyond training.
- The ability to organise a personal schedule.
- The ability to carry out minor repairs and regulation.
- Ability to plan tasks and to achieve deadlines; ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Proven IT and administrative skills.
- Welcoming, helpful and professional manner.
- Enthusiasm and motivation; ability to work well as a member of a team.
Job Responsibilities
Tuning
- To keep the upright piano stock in tune and on pitch.
- Tune to a standard suitable for both teaching and practise.
- To organise a tuning personal schedule and book rooms accordingly.
Maintenance
- To replace broken strings.
- To recentre where necessary.
- To deal with minor repairs when necessary.
