Job Summary
Job Description
The successful candidate will have relevant and transferrable experience as Head of Wardrobe or equivalent on similar productions, and must have the right to live and work in the UK. They will need a good understanding of costume construction and maintenance techniques. This is a maintenance heavy contract with highly detailed costumes, therefore excellent machine and hand sewing skills are essential.
Candidates should have previous experience with stretch wear and structured costumes. Previous experience of maintaining or constructing costumes made from unconventional fabrics e.g. vinyls, plastics, custom printed lycras and crystal / metal embellishments is desirable

Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term
Dates of Employment: September 2026 until 23rd May 2027
Typical show schedule (subject to change: performances are 6 days per week either Monday - Saturday or Tuesday - Sunday depending on each venue's schedule
Salary: £1074 per playing week, plus Touring Allowance and Travel Payments
Responsible To: Costume Supervisor, General Manager
Job Requirements
- Maintaining the Production as instructed by the Costume Designer/Costume Supervisor;
- Managing your department including line management and scheduling;
- To be responsible for the overall running of the Wardrobe department;
- Ensuring excellent maintenance of all the Production's costumes including repairs and laundering;
- Dressing the Company for each performance;
- Inspecting the costumes daily prior to each performance and flagging areas for repair;
- Managing the load in/out of costumes and all departmental kit;
- Overseeing costume requirements for SwAlts and Emergency Covers;
- Managing departmental petty cash and ordering supplies;
- Reading and responding to Show Reports;
- Compiling and contributing to show paperwork including the Costume Bible;
- Working in accordance with the show's health and safety policies;
- Maintaining a healthy pool of deps;
- Any other reasonable duty that may fall under the remit of Head of Wardrobe based on industry norms and practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent attention to detail;
- A proactive and flexible attitude;
- Previous experience of UK or international touring including re-cast processes;
- Previous experience as a Head of Wardrobe on a West End or No 1 Touring musical;
- Experience of managing a team;
- The ability to work well with actors and members of the creative team;
- The ability work well under pressure and effectively prioritise;
- Awareness of current health and safety legislation;
- Strong pastoral skills.
