Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sound No. 1 to join the production team of The Hollow for the 2026–27 UK & Ireland tour.

Job Description

Rehearsals: 7 September - 3 October 2026 (London)
Technical Rehearsals & Previews: W/C 5 October 2026 (Canterbury Marlowe Theatre)
Tour: 5 October 2026 - 29 May 2027
Please note: there will be an upaid Christmas break from 30 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.
Rate: £950 per week, plus touring and travel allowance (at Equity rates).

Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced and self-sufficient Sound No. 1, confident leading a sound department of one during performances. The successful candidate will act as the first line of technical support for all on-stage sound systems.

Job Requirements

Proven experience as a Sound No. 1 or Deputy Head of Sound in theatre or touring productions
Confidence working independently as sole sound technician during performance periods
Strong ability to troubleshoot and maintain live systems including radio microphones, playback, and show control
Excellent working knowledge of Yamaha DM7 or similar digital consoles
Proficiency with QLab for playback operation and fault finding
Experience working with radio microphones and wireless systems in live theatre
Ability to respond quickly and calmly as first-line technical support during performances
Strong understanding of touring theatre workflows and maintaining consistency across venues
Good communication skills when working with visiting venues and production teams
A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving in a live environment
Calm, practical approach to working under pressure
Full understanding of health & safety in a technical theatre environment
