Job Description

The Federation of British Artists at Mall Galleries and the Crinan Hotel present the Crinan Residency.

Newly graduated artists are invited to apply for a week-long residency in Crinan, an artist's haven on the west coast of Scotland, taking place between September and October 2026 (the exact week is to be agreed mutually between the winning artist and the Crinan Hotel).

It is free to apply and the selected resident will receive:
accommodation for one week with breakfast included at The Crinan Hotel
a studio space for the duration of your stay
art materials from Michael Harding to the value of £500
a £500 stipend (for travel and other expenses)
a feature on the Mall Galleries website and Instagram (@mallgalleries).

In addition, ten shortlisted artists will receive a complimentary one-year ArtRabbit Artist Plan, worth £99. The plan is designed to help artists build visibility, present their work professionally, sell commission-free, and access curated opportunities, commissions and industry connections through ArtRabbit.

The Crinan Residency is open to new graduates who meet one of the following criteria:

Graduates from either an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in fine arts at a UK college in 2026. 'College' here refers to Higher Education institutions that offer recognised degree qualifications at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Note that Foundation Diploma courses are not eligible.

Those who have completed a fine arts course at an alternative learning programme in the UK in 2026. 'Alternative learning programme' refers to programmes that operate broadly as alternatives to BA or MA study.

Online submission closes: Friday 31 July, 12 noon.
