Job Summary
Job Description
Provide collaborative leadership skills and direction to enable the Board to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of Havant Arts Active in the context of The Spring.
Ensure that Havant Arts Active pursues its objectives as defined in its business plan, governing document, charity law, company law and other relevant legislation/regulations such as taxes and employment law.
Chair meetings (where required) and facilitate the Board of Havant Arts Active in stimulating sound, well-rounded and carefully considered decision-making.
Help develop business strategy and policies, define goals and evaluate performance against agreed targets
Approve the annual cycle of the board meetings, meeting agendas, facilitate and chair (when needed), ensuring they are properly run and recorded, monitor major decisions taken at meetings and ensure they are implemented.
Maintain a clear grasp of Havant Arts Active's financial position and to ensure full and timely financial transparency and information disclosure to the Board and the charity Trustees.
Annually review the Board governance and structure ensuring implementation of agreed changes / developments.
Maintain awareness of current legislation and best practice in the management of trading subsidiaries by charities and advising the Co Ceo's and team of changes necessary to ensure HAA is compliant.
Ensure the company's accounts are a true and fair view of the business' finances, signing off annual audited accounts
Ensure company records are maintained, that any company changes are reported to Companies House and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and that accounts and tax returns are appropriately filed with the correct bodies as required, delegating these duties, as required, to the Co-CEOs.
Attend The Spring's trustee board meetings, taking responsibility for reporting on Havant Arts Active - reviewing key financial events, trends and concerns.
Job Requirements
Skills & Qualities
Experience of a leadership role in a trading subsidiary or similar environment
Leadership and managerial experience
A track record of running and developing small to medium business with some knowledge of financial management or other business skills
Sound, independent judgement and the ability to think creatively in the context of the organisation and external environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for local arts and heritage and an understanding of the important contribution Havant Arts Active can make to The Spring as a charitable organisation.
