Job Summary
Job Description
The successful candidate will have relevant and transferrable experience as Deputy Head of Wardrobe or equivalent on similar productions, and must have the right to live and work in the UK. They will need a good understanding of costume construction and maintenance techniques. This is a maintenance heavy contract with highly detailed costumes, therefore excellent machine and hand sewing skills are essential.
Candidates should have previous experience with stretch wear and structured costumes. Previous experience of maintaining or constructing costumes made from unconventional fabrics e.g. vinyls, plastics, custom printed lycras and crystal / metal embellishments is desirable.

Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term
Dates of Employment: September 2026 until 23rd May 2027
Typical show schedule (subject to change: performances are 6 days per week either Monday - Saturday or Tuesday - Sunday depending on each venue's schedule
Salary: £900 per playing week, plus Touring Allowance and Travel Payments
Responsible To: Head of Wardrobe, Costume Supervisor
Job Requirements
- Helping to maintain the Production as instructed by the Costume Designer/Supervisor and as dictated by the artistic requirements of the Production;
- Supporting the needs of the department including training up any deps;
- To assist in the overall running of the Wardrobe department of the Production;
- To be responsible for the good maintenance of all costumes including repairs, laundry and dry cleaning, and including checks prior to each performance, with an awareness of understudy performances, if any;
- To deputise for the Head of Wardrobe during float shows and periods of absence;
- To dress the Company for each performance of the Production as required;
- Compiling and keeping updated cue sheets/relevant show paperwork;
- Working in accordance with the Producer's Health and Safety policy, using appropriate safety equipment and clothing;
- Any other duties that may fall under the remit of Deputy Head of Wardrobe based on industry norms and practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent attention to detail;
- A proactive and flexible attitude;
- Previous experience of UK or international touring including re-cast processes;
- Previous experience as a Deputy Head of Wardrobe on a West End or No 1 Touring musical;
- Experience of working within a team;
- The ability to work well with actors and members of the creative team;
- The ability work well under pressure and effectively prioritise;
- Awareness of current health and safety legislation;
- Strong pastoral skills.
