Job Description
The Event Manager plays a pivotal role in generating a significant source of revenue for Saatchi Gallery. Working closely with the Head of Events, the successful candidate will be responsible for maximising revenue and profitability through the successful planning and delivery of a diverse programme of exhibitions and events throughout the year.
The role also combines business development, client relationship management and event delivery, with a primary focus on securing and managing external venue hire opportunities. Responsibilities include identifying and developing new business, managing client enquiries, negotiating contracts and delivering exceptional exhibitions and events. In addition, the Event Manager will lead the planning and delivery of the Gallery's internal programme of events, including exhibition launches, private views, patron events, and events for corporate partners and sponsors.
Key Information:
- Place of Work: Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea, London, on-site
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. The nature of this role means that flexibility is required over specific hours worked, including occasional evenings, early mornings or weekends.
- Salary: £34,000 - £39,000 with the opportunity to earn a discretionary performance-based bonus linked to succeeding agreed revenue targets.
Job Requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- A minimum of two years' experience in the events industry, delivering a diverse range of events.
- Significant experience in the operational delivery of large-scale events, ideally within the arts and cultural sector.
- Commercially minded, with a proven ability to drive revenue and achieve financial targets.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a confident, proactive and enthusiastic approach, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing or programming events is desirable.
- Experience of managing event budgets and maintaining financial records.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to the generation of revenue.
- Act as a main point of contact for venue enquiries and client outreach.
- Delivering events that are successful for both clients and the Gallery.
- Meeting the department's KPIs and revenue targets.
- Managing event budgets and invoices, including tracking of invoices, and liaising with clients and suppliers to ensure timely payments.
- Programming and developing the Gallery's own events, identifying opportunities to create engaging public and private events that support the Gallery's artistic vision, audience development and commercial objectives.
- Proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities through targeted client outreach.
- Operational management of events at the Gallery.
- Promptly responding to inbound enquiries and conducting site visits.
- Management of the events' social media channels and newsletters.
- Building and maintaining strong industry, supplier and agency relationships.
