Job Summary

BEYOND Studio seeks a Head of Operations & Production (part-time, from Sept 2026) to own resourcing, budgets, contracts and tech stack across our events and consultancy work. Senior, autonomous role reporting to both directors. £45k-£50k FTE pro rata. Remote-first, UK-based, Bath/Brighton meetings.

Job Description

We're hiring a Head of Operations & Production: a senior, part-time role at the operational centre of BEYOND Studio, reporting jointly to both directors, Tara Solesbury and Sam Michel.

You'll create a dedicated operational layer that keeps the whole organisation moving, coordinating a mixed team of freelancers, senior consultants and PAYE staff, maintaining resourcing and budget oversight, and ensuring every project, whatever the sector or geography, is properly tracked, documented and delivered on time.

You'll sit between the two directors who set strategy and budgets and the delivery team who deliver the work. You'll be proactive, with the confidence to chase, flag and challenge bottlenecks wherever they occur, including with the directors. In return, you get real autonomy over how the work gets delivered, a growing scope for financial responsibility, and a direct say in shaping the studio's direction as it takes on more corporate clients, international projects and consortium bids.

In your first few months, the delivery team will be working from one clear system for who's doing what, with you as first port of call for delivery questions. Within a year, you'll be running monthly budget and margin reporting and taking on a growing share of financial sign-off.

Contract: 4-5 days/week for the first three months (Sept-Nov, covering onboarding and BEYOND Conference delivery), reducing to a minimum of 3 days/week from January 2027. Salary: £45,000-£50,000 FTE pro rata, reviewed annually. Remote-first, UK-based, with in-person meetings in Bath and Brighton. Start: mid-September 2026. Benefits: 28 days annual leave pro rata.

Job Requirements

You don't need to tick every box below; we're more interested in demonstrable experience than a perfect match on paper.

- Significant senior-level experience in operations, production or business management, ideally within the creative, cultural or events sector
- Experience supporting SME growth across public and private sector clients
- Comfortable on international projects and with international stakeholders
- Confident managing upward: keeping directors focused and holding people to plans and deadlines
- Hands-on budget management experience in the region of £500,000+
- Sound understanding of HR practice: recruitment, onboarding, performance monitoring
- Experience managing a mixed workforce of freelancers, consultants and PAYE staff
- Systems-minded, able to own tools such as Airtable, HubSpot, Google Workspace and Slack

Job Responsibilities

- Own and maintain project plans across the BEYOND Conference and consultancy projects, UK and internationally
- Own Airtable as the single source of truth across all workstreams
- Issue freelance and consultancy agreements and work schedules, with director sign-off
- Coordinate our mixed team of freelancers, senior consultants and PAYE staff
- Monitor project budgets against actuals and flag variances promptly
- Build financial oversight into the working week with our fractional Finance Director
- Support recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day management of the delivery team
- Act as systems owner for Airtable, HubSpot, Google Workspace and Slack
- Maintain documentation so project and contract information stays accurate and current
