Job Summary

Working alongside the Head Chef and Chef Assistant, this role will deliver outstanding preshow dining for the Watermill Theatre restaurant and bar, as well as catering for other events taking place at the theatre.

Job Description

The Watermill Theatre restaurant and bar primarily operate prior to matinee and evening performances at the theatre, 6 days a week. The restaurant offers a limited 2 course menu, whilst hot snacks are served from the bar. There are up to 70 covers per service in the restaurant, running 12 - 2.30pm and/or 5 -7.30pm.

Located on the banks of the River Lambourn in the village of Bagnor, The Watermill Theatre's unique site and facilities are home to a thriving theatre, restaurant and bar as well as offices and living accommodation. The site is centred around a 19th
century Grade II-listed mill building and converted 18th-century barn which house the theatre and restaurant respectively. There are other buildings on or near the main site, including rehearsal studios and office/admin areas as well as 5 properties used to accommodate visiting casts and creative teams.

Job Requirements

The post holder should have:
Food hygiene Level 3
Proven experience as a chef in a busy kitchen environment
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent organisation and time management skills
A strong understanding of health and safety regulations
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Driving license
Willingness to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
Food preparation and cooking maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
Leading and supporting on food service, ensuring that dishes are served in a timely manner
Ensuring that statutory requirements and organisational policies are adhered to at all times, including processes relating to allergens and intolerances.
Actively maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards
Supporting the Head Chef to ensure adequate stock levels and dealing
with suppliers and managing deliveries when necessary
Supervising Chef Assistant and Kitchen Porter in Head Chef's absence
Ensuring that guests receive excellent service and enjoy their culinary experience
