Job Summary

We are looking for an outstanding Chief Executive Officer to lead Circomedia into its next chapter, continuing our mission to create and nurture the next generation of contemporary circus in Bristol, the UK and globally, while making world-class circus experiences accessible to all.

Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide Circomedia with strong, authentic and inspirational leadership, strengthening Circomedia's position as an industry leader, whilst shaping and influencing the position circus and physical theatre within the wider cultural and creative industries, and contributing to the development of the next generation of circus and physical theatre artists.

The CEO will shape Circomedia's strategic direction, setting clear goals to promote Circomedia's growth and development and maintain the currency of its programmes within the sector. The CEO will have a long-term view of Circomedia's place and position within the cultural and creative industries, and be confident in managing change, engaging and inspiring staff, stakeholders and volunteers to deliver against the organisation's long-term goals.

The CEO will work with, and be responsible to, the Board of Trustees, ensuring accountability, informed decision making and appropriate governance for effective organisational management. They will oversee operational and financial decision making and ensure legal compliance.

The CEO will lead and manage the charity and subsidiary trading company to enable them to achieve their strategic and artistic objectives, ensuring the business plan, operations, finance and education and community courses are delivered effectively.

Alongside the wider senior management team, the CEO will be advocate for the organisation, and act to strengthen Circomedia's recognition and place as a leader in circus and physical theatre training at national and global levels. They will act as an ambassador for the art form within the wider cultural and creative industries and will manage strategic relationships with industry partners to promote effective collaboration to deliver output which maintains the art form's currency and expand its reach within cultural and creative sectors.
