Job Summary

We are looking for a Creative Engagement Assistant Intern to join our Creative Engagement team, supporting the planning, administration and delivery of youth and schools arts engagement projects, gaining practical experience and insight into a range of careers in the arts.

Job Description

The Creative Engagement Assistant Internship provides an opportunity for an early career, emerging arts practitioner to build understanding and gain practical experience of arts engagement at HOME, Manchester's premier arts centre and a registered charity, featuring two theatres, five cinemas, a 500m contemporary art gallery, and engagement work in youth, education and community settings across Manchester.

Working alongside the Creative Engagement team, the intern supports the planning, administration and delivery of youth and schools arts engagement projects across HOME and community settings, including sessions at St Cuthbert's Primary School, Young Artists programmes, Creative Careers Week, Creative Careers Talks, Schools Linking CPD and Inspire Gallery projects.

The internship is designed to build knowledge relating to the planning, administration and delivery of creative engagement work, while developing practical skills within a professional, creative working environment. Day-to-day, the role involves liaising with session leaders, supporting session prep, setting up and packing down workshops, supporting participants during sessions, and session admin such as register taking, note taking, evaluation feedback and research tasks. The role builds essential knowledge relating to safeguarding and health and safety, and offers insight into a range of careers in the arts.

This is a paid, fixed-term internship at the Real Living Wage (£13.45 per hour), totalling 144 hours over 12 weeks, working Mondays and Thursdays (6-hour days) from Monday 28 September to Wednesday 16 December 2026. HOME will provide full safeguarding training, and a DBS check will be completed as part of enrolment. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required with advance notice and swapped for a scheduled day. Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
