Job Description

Naturehood is a creative health & environmental arts programme delivered by Cayr Charity on Church Street, Westminster. We're recruiting a pool of freelance artists to deliver weekly creative workshops with small groups of young people aged 9 to 15 (most of the group are younger, but tell us your preferred age range in your proposal & we'll recruit accordingly), on nature-responsive art forms such as, but not limited to, slow-looking & painting, botanical photography & print, biodiversity photography & zine-making, and climate storytelling.

Practical details
- Sessions: 2 hours, once a week, whether for a single session or across a block, with 15 minutes each side for set up and set down.
- Group size: 5-8 young people, aged 9-15 (state your preferred range in your proposal)
- Venues: Lilestone Street Community Hub & Church Street Library, Westminster
- Fee: £284.31 per full day (2 workshops) / £156.38 per half day (1 workshop)

An enhanced DBS check & a safeguarding briefing are required before your first session

We're open to proposals from artists wanting to deliver a single session or a full block of sessions, so do let us know what works for you. Our first block starts in October 2026.

Job Requirements

Ideally 3 years' professional experience of participatory or community-based practice, ideally with a nature, environmental or place-based dimension to your work.

Experience working with children and a good understanding of facilitation is essential.

You don't need previous experience with every art form listed, we're building a roster across several disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver weekly 2-hour creative workshops for groups of 5-8 young people at Lilestone Street Community Hub and Church Street Library, responsive to each session's art form and the young people in the room. Complete a DBS check and safeguarding briefing before your first session. Sessions may be single one-offs or a rotating block of roughly 6-8 weeks.
