Job Summary

Support workers wanted for Naturehood, a creative health programme in Church Street, Westminster. Work alongside freelance artists to help sessions run smoothly for young people aged 9-15 at Lilestone Street Community Hub & Church Street Library. Youth work, education or SEN experience needed.

Job Description

We're recruiting support workers to work alongside our freelance artists for our Naturehood programme in Church Street, helping sessions run smoothly and making sure every young person is safely and fully included. As any young person can sign up, some weeks we have people with additional support needs, other weeks we don't, so the role is flexible, supporting whoever is in the room on the day. We ask parents or carers in advance about any support needs, but this information isn't always complete or accurate on the day, so support workers need to be responsive to whoever actually turns up, not just what's been flagged ahead of time.

Practical details

- Sessions: 2 hours, alongside the freelance artist, at Lilestone & Church Street sessions only, with 15 minutes each side for set up and set down
- Group size: 5-8 young people, aged 9-15
- Rate: £20 per hour
- An enhanced DBS check and a safeguarding briefing are required before your first session (paid safeguard briefing and any planning meetings)

Job Requirements

Experience supporting young people in a youth work, education, SEN or community setting. You must have experience working with children and a good understanding of facilitation. You don't need an arts background.

Job Responsibilities

Support 2-hour sessions alongside the freelance artist at Lilestone Street Community Hub and Church Street Library, including 15 minutes set up & set down. Focus on the young people in the room: settling them in, supporting anyone who needs extra help engaging, and keeping sessions safe and positive for groups of 5-8, aged 9-15. Complete a DBS check and safeguarding briefing before your first session.
