Job Summary

Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is seeking an experienced Heritage Skills Training Developer to play and exciting role in course creation (both accredited and non-accredited training) at the Heritage Skills Centre of Excellence in South Yorkshire which is planned to open in 2028.

Job Description

The role will focus on developing training pathways that address skills shortages while creating opportunities for apprentices, students, existing workers, volunteers, SEND learners, NEET individuals and local communities. The postholder will work with colleges, universities, training providers, contractors and heritage organisations to build partnerships and ensure training provision reflects local, regional and national priorities. Key responsibilities include identifying workforce development needs, creating accredited and non-accredited training opportunities, developing curriculum content, supporting apprenticeships and work-based learning, and helping establish the South Yorkshire Regional Heritage Skills Network. The successful candidate will design and deliver up to six pilot heritage skills courses, support the Commonwealth Heritage Forum Summer School and contribute to wider programme development. The role will also involve developing trainee recruitment plans, creating communications materials, supporting partnership agreements, establishing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and ensuring alignment with the Trust's cultural, educational and heritage strategies. The postholder will help shape a long-term delivery plan that supports the conservation needs of Wentworth Woodhouse while creating meaningful career pathways and skills opportunities. Applicants should have experience in skills development, curriculum design, vocational education, workforce development or heritage training. Strong project management, stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results. Knowledge of apprenticeships, government-funded training programmes and heritage construction would be advantageous.
