The Spin Arts Digital Content Storyteller placement is a paid opportunity for an early-career creative based in West Yorkshire to work alongside us, capturing the real stories that shape our work. Open to film, photography, podcasting, social media, or writing practitioners.

Job Description

This is an exciting placement opportunity for an early-career digital storyteller. Working within an arts and community setting, you will gain hands-on experience capturing the real stories behind Spin Arts' work.

Whether your medium is film, photography, radio, podcasting, social media, or writing, you will work collaboratively within the Spin Arts team to:

Develop your practice: Test ideas, explore different approaches to storytelling, and grow your portfolio through live Spin Arts projects.

Capture authentic stories: Work directly with artists, audiences and communities to document creative processes and lived experiences.

Shape our voice: Bring your unique perspective to help us better reflect the people, places and values at the heart of our work.

Time Commitment & Location:

The placement is equivalent to 17.5 paid days (8 hour days) between September 2026 and March 2027. Time will be scheduled flexibly around project activity and your availability, mixing on-site documentation and independent remote working. You will need to attend in-person events primarily in Bradford and across the North of England. For this reason, applicants should be based in West Yorkshire.

Job Requirements

You do not need extensive experience in the arts sector. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with fresh perspectives and a genuine interest in telling stories that matter to communities.

You could be someone who:

Has some storytelling experience: Through personal projects, study, community work or early professional experience in your chosen medium.

Has a thoughtful approach: Is curious about people and creative processes, and is interested in capturing their stories with sensitivity and respect.

Is adaptable: Can work independently while responding flexibly to the needs of our live projects.

Is open to learning and experimenting with your practice.

Job Responsibilities

On-site Documentation: Attend rehearsals, workshops, performances and community events to document the creative process.

Content Gathering: Record interviews, unscripted conversations and informal behind-the-scenes moments, that reflect real experiences, stories and perspectives.

Sharing Content: Curating material into compelling digital stories and publishing to our platforms.

Shared Learning: Sharing your insights and learning with our team so we can evolve our digital approach together.
