Job Summary
Job Description
Culture Leicestershire is seeking expressions of interest from Freelance Filmmakers / Content Curators who would like to be considered for future projects. We aim to establish a small pre-approved list of filmmakers who we can contact to support a wide range of projects across our Museums, Libraries, Collections and Participation services.
We are looking to work with Freelance Filmmakers with varied styles, approaches and areas of expertise. These may include, but are not limited to:
> Documentary-style filmmaking
> Project evaluation and legacy films
> Event filming and coverage
> Short-form digital content for social media
> Creative and artistic film responses
Budgets will vary depending on the project. (Culture Leicestershire recognises the Artist's Union pay guidance)
Job Requirements
Plan, film and edit content for a variety of cultural projects
Capture activity, events, workshops and exhibitions
Record high quality audio including interviews and live sound
Create complete finished films including editing, soundtrack, titles, graphics and
subtitles
Have an understanding of copyright and licensing law as it pertains to filmmaking, audio
capture, creation and usage involving communities.
Produce films suitable for different platforms
Work with staff, participants, volunteers, artists and partners professionally
Have the required equipment and manage it on site
Provide appropriate formats and edits
Adhere to timelines and project deadlines
Consider accessibility (e.g. subtitles are required for all our long-form content)
Follow LCC's consent and GDPR processes
Happy to share content without CC or soundtrack, to be edited by another and used in
our End of Year Celebration of cross service activity Film.
Job Responsibilities
We are particularly interested in hearing from filmmakers who can demonstrate the
following:
Experience in documentary-style filmmaking
Experience producing short-form digital content
Strong storytelling and editing skills
Experience in arts, culture or community settings
Ability to work with a range of people with varied needs and backgrounds
Good interviewing skills and friendly disposition to help people feel comfortable in front
of the camera.
Adaptability in style and approach
Please note, as an example, if you specialise in short-form content, we are not also
expecting you to also have experience with long-form documentary filmmaking; we are
seeking a range of Filmmakers to support Culture Leicestershire's broad activities.
