Job Summary
Job Description
As a Drama Facilitator with The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company, you will plan and deliver weekly drama sessions for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. You will provide person-centred support to help participants build skills, achieve individual goals, and devise and perform their own original theatre productions.
Hours
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6.5 hours per day (Flexible applications are considered, you can apply to work one or both days please specify in your application).
Locations
Mondays: Alnwick Playhouse, Alnwick
Wednesdays: Theatre Royal, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Rate: £19.82 per hour
Term: Permanent
Annual Leave: 7 weeks pro rata (inclusive of bank holidays)
Start Date: 19th October 2026
Job Requirements
A self-motivated, organised drama facilitator and project coordinator with hands-on experience working creatively with adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. A highly person-centred communicator and great problem solver committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Essential
Experience facilitating drama sessions with learning disabled and/or autistic groups
Performing arts project management experience
Strong organisation, time management, and IT skills
Person-centred approach to communication and support
Desirable
Relevant degree or teaching qualification
Charity experience
Skills in other arts disciplines (music, dance, film)
Job Responsibilities
Plan and lead weekly drama sessions for adults with a learning disability and autistic people, using person-centred approaches to help participants contribute ideas, explore performance mediums, develop skills, and achieve goals.
Provide a structured framework for groups to devise, rehearse, and showcase original performances, while preparing tailored participation resources and coordinating performance events.
Collaborate with Support Drama Workers, maintain accurate records (e.g., risk assessments and evaluations), and build strong relationships with stakeholders, partner organisations, and the wider team.
